Demolish Old & Replace Mezzanine Floor in Warehouse, Capalaba, QLD

Location: Capalaba, QLD, 4157

Project Information:

We recently completed a project involving the installation of a brand new mezzanine floor for a customer. Here’s a quick rundown of what we did:

First, Out with the Old:

We started by removing the old mezzanine, staircase, and some walls that were already in the building. You can see in the first two images below what was removed. We used Handy Bins for waste removal; they’re based in Capalaba and provided excellent service.

Building the New Mezzanine:

Next, we designed and installed the new mezzanine floor. It has a clear span of 6 meters (meaning no supporting columns in the middle of that space) and the finished floor sits at 2925mm off the ground. The new staircase was designed to meet Australian Standards AS1428, ensuring it’s safe and accessible.

Strong and Sturdy:

To make sure the mezzanine can handle the required weight capacity of 5kPa we used strong 310 Universal Beams and 100 SHS posts with 12mm thick plates. The mezzanine is attached to the existing tilt panel walls at each end which only adds extra stability.

Finishing Touches by the Customer:

The customer will be adding walls to enclose the mezzanine below to create a new product showroom space that is air-conditioned and keeps the dust out. The wall adjacent to the staircase will be extended to create the balustrade on the Mezzanine to the right of the stairs. The left hand stair balustrade will then be installed on the left hand tilt panel wall.

Project Timeline:

Materials were manufactured and delivered to site within 2 x Weeks of order placement.

Installation including the demolition and Removal of the existing structure were completed within 3 x days.
