A Precision Build in Geebung – 106m² of Fully Engineered Mezzanine Space
We recently wrapped up one of our more technically challenging — and satisfying — mezzanine installations in Geebung: a 106 m² floor built to a solid 5 kPa load rating and finished with 21 mm plywood flooring on joists at 400 mm centres. Fully engineered, certified, and delivered under a tight pre-Christmas deadline, this project had a bit of everything.
Access was designed to tie seamlessly into the client’s existing staircase, and we included a sliding gate for quick, safe forklift loading. All handrails were built to National Construction Code standards, keeping the entire platform compliant.
But the real story of this job was the slab. Across the building footprint there was a 50 mm height variation — and it changed at almost every post location. To get this right, we completed a detailed site survey, then manufactured seven different post heights so the floor would sit perfectly level without needing any grouting.
The layout also required a structural transition: moving from a back-to-back purlin beam into a heavier structural beam where the mezzanine formed its L-shape. We powder-coated this structural beam grey to blend seamlessly with the rest of the beams, keeping everything looking clean and intentional.
With two scissor lifts, a forklift and a skip bin on site, installation took just 2.5 days. And despite the complexity, we turned the whole project around — from final design sign-off to full completion — in three weeks, right on time for Christmas.
A challenging build, a tight deadline, and a flawless finish… exactly the kind of mezzanine project we love delivering. Here is a link to a video unpacking the details of the build.
